Controlling Cytoscape using a Nintendo Wiimote. This was accomplished using DarwiinRemote ( http://blog.hiroaki.jp/2006/12/000433.html ) on a Mac laptop to connect a Wiimote via bluetooth to the laptop and using the Wiimote as a mouse. A specific mapping from Wiimote buttons to keyboard and mouse buttons allowed certain Cytoscape actions to more easily be controlled using the Wiimote. In the future, specific software can be written to better link the Wiimote to Cytoscape, as has been accomplished for other scientific software e.g. by the Lilien lab ( http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~lilien/lilien_projVIZ.html ) The idea for this came from Ryan Lilien, part of the Computational Biology Lab at the University of Toronto. Christian Muise, a student familiar with controlling software using a Wii Remote, helped set up the software. Gary Bader ( http://baderlab.org ) controlled Cytoscape for the video and it was really fun!
Amazing!
