@x24mccoy I used to watch the Midnight Special every Friday night if they had bands that I liked. We didn't know the audio was crap, because no one had stereo TV's back then!

ELO appeared on the Midnight Special previously, but this was the first time they hosted the show. Bev Bevan played MC and did the intros for the rest of the show, because of Jeff Lynne's stage fright - he could perform, but he always had trouble talking to an audience.

So he drops the cello, (as any musican knows that would knock it out of tune), does he check his tuning? Even though we were label mates, (United Artist) these guys were often accused of lip syncing... must admit, loved all their albums...

@no1elofaniknow ...Jeff had stage fright issues in the early days when it came to speaking to the audiences. Bev, on the other hand, practically became the group's glad-hand at the concerts. Most felt that had Bev been with Jeff for the OGWT interview, Jeff wouldn't have come across like the jerk he did.
