Over 70% of racehorses are NOT sent to slaughter. It is more like 10% which is still too many.

@airbear2482 i think it would be kind of kwel if they were to dig her remains up and test her bones if their still around. maybe they could rule out poor bones... Not Saying id want it to happen...

In the original footage of her match race with Foolish Pleasure when they come around the last turn coming on the home stretch it shows a flock of birds on the track. Although we will probably never know what exactly happened you can see the birds take flight right in front of her, this probably caused Ruffian to pull up a bit breaking stride so that when she came down, she came down wrong. although she continued running the pressure it put on her injured leg is what possibly cause it to snap.
