Stirling engine originally intended to run in "ringbom" mode but turned out too leaky to run more than a few seconds before stalling.
In Normal stirling operation(displacer connected to crankshaft) and a lot of oil added it will indeed run but with quite poor performance.
It needs a new work piston and a thinner displacer rod and probably a different hot cap(steel or glass instead of aluminium) to become a champion.

  • It's what I call the hot side of the displacer cylinder, right or wrong? tell me!

Being made of aluminium means it is a too good heat conductor and heat spreads rapidly to the rest of the engine.

    Happy modeling!

  • what exactly is a hot cap? I have built two engines and should probably know but maybe I call it something else>
