I noticed that; I have never seen a mental health group be so hip.

  • gestalt, which is shown through the clip with fritz pearls is not the same as psychoanalysis, Pearls developed his theories in contradiction to freud, Pearls is all about the present-awareness, he's not interested in diving into the depths of the past and our unconscious

  • Did anyone notice they are playing the instrumental version of "So fresh, so clean" by Outkast?

  • @MrGrevy Check out: Leichsanring, F. & Rabung, S. (2008). Effectiveness of long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy. Journal of the American Medical Association, 300 (13), 1551-1565.

Shedler, J. (2010). The efficacy of psychodynamic psychotherapy. American Psychologist, Feb-March, 98-109.

Curious to hear your thoughts on these.

  • @theprodromal Can you point me to the empirical evidence in peer reviewed journals to back up your claim?

  • @l337z0r CBT receives more funding precisely because it is cheaper. Unfortunately, it is not as effective empirically and the positive effects of the therapy aren't augmented with time, as they are in psychodynamic approaches.

Patients Continue to Improve After Treatment Ends, New Study Finds

WASHINGTON—Psychodynamic psychotherapy is effective for a wide range of mental health symptoms, including depression, anxiety, panic and stress-related physical ailments, and the benefits of the therapy grow after treatment has ended, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.

  • @MrGrevy Not true. There is ample and mounting evidence for the efficacy of psychoanalytic therapies for a variety of conditions. If you are going to argue that psychonanalytic approaches are nonsense, you are engaging in a scientific argument and should provide the data to support your argument.

  • @MilliVanilli2007 Because CBT works and psychoanalysis is nonsense.

  • @l337z0r CBT is also evidence based, unlike psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is outdated and shouldn't be used anymore.
