@squirell1952 What Alikah1 said is true. And besides, that was actually an EXTREMELY common practice at the time. Heck that is what the 2006 movie "Dream Girls" was partially about. That doesn't make it any less low and well, producer like, but it was the norm of the time.

this was when America was GREAT After WW2

I have NO patience for any stoat that comes to knock this guy. I'm here to tell ya, back in the late 1950's this entertainer ~ Pat Boone broke ALL attendance records at the world famous Steel Pier in Atlantic City, NJ. that's right, ALL records! Throughout, Pat has lived a good Christian life and furthermore is about as All-American as they come. Not to mention, the guy still sings great!

@squirell1952 In the 1950s Pat Boone was under contract to Dot Records, and sang what he was told to sing, so he stole nothing. If his songs were not original, neither were Elvis Presley's. Only Paul Anka and Roy Orbison sang their own stuff.

absolute shite!!
boone "borrowed" (stole?) his music mainly from black singers and songwriters.
so, you see, his music was not original!"

Dear Jeanne,
That song brought back sooo many memories of my Mom singing that song. She had a lovely voice and her voice just floated through the house when she sang. Thank You. LOL, Pam
