(pt. 41 of 365)

Happy three-word (or, in this case, subject) Wednesday everybody. So, long ago zmoney suggested the joker, twitter, and how to make it as a rapper during an economic crisis. Not only did I write a way-too-long rap that doesn't change it's cadence enough, but it's not memorized and I delivered it poorly. Throw in a confusing, politically-charged sarcastic halloween costume and a rip-off of the Conan O'Brien mouth cut-out technique, but with slobber on the paper, and I think I might have made the most awkward, uncomfortable, and alienating rhyme of the day yet!

Enjoy...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
tectonic choices economic crisis
stagnatin' wages increasing prices
zmoney wanna know what my advice is
for rappers tryina make it in the industry despite this
freeze somebody bring me back some honeybees
me Im not an expert but say it twice listen
closely it is not enough to be the nicest
rapper in ya city if you think that suffices
listen to me it is not enough to be the nicest
Im even tempted to say it thrice just in
case youre still in denial like Isis
or maybe just a flake like psoriasis
so lemme describe just
and the way it goes down like Sir Isaac
take a step back now analyze the context
big corporations world wide conquest
if they arent charmed with the cash the response is
like the song says on to the next continent
ghost town haunted with a phantom that taunts us
eminently competent but without a conscious
backhanded complements perched on its honches
all it really wants is to maximize profits
resource extraction in rapid succession
somebody bring me back some money thats the profession
they act like its destined like natural selection
but thats shits collapsing so on to the next one
lets build a new system to tackle disparities
local resilience global solidarity
deal with historical crimes with sincerity
and give Haiti reparations not charity
would it cost a whole lotta money of course it would
but its the right thing like abolish corporate personhood
freeze colony collapse disorder somebody bring me back some money please
now look at these jokers
all of them are wannabes
rush Limbaugh Glen Beck Sean Hannity
none of these clowns holds water like aquariums
Dont even belong in the Imaginarium
I'm not a Alex Jones nut or a Libertarian
yes I pay my dues and I use my librarian
I like city parks public schools even garrison
Keillors my companion yep with his Prarie home
all of these things make me proud to be America
Danny Glover Daniel Ellsberg Dan Berrigan
and Barack Obama so when you disparage him
is it really him or the mess hes inheritin
paint him as the joker treat him like poisen
but vote republican and they cut your unemployment
yeah we hit the ballot box for him but the problem was
it was not enough movement gotta follow up
on to the next one successively
on to the next one we campaigned successfully
but maybe we forgot the recipe
how to organize for the change that we can believe
Obamas election that movement is history
nostalgia is death Hov says so explicitly
2010 lets participate viscerally
on to the next one lets win some victories
but back to the question z money askin' me
how to make a living workin' in the music factory
I mean the music industry or actually
I guess I meant exactly what I said kinda accurately
that could be the subject for the panel of the experts
independent label reps fans and professors
how to be sure the musicians are best served
I dont know Im not an expert I just wanna flow
I write and recite rhyming macrotweets
but if I wanted cash for these tweets I bet that could be arranged
but not big money like athletes
more like a the moneyfrom the tipjar at applebees
lets say this very verse here was my very first
first I would write it so tight it was prepared to burst
and twitter it off to 140 characters
try to getem come out to a show so they can hear the words and repeat that process for many years
lobbyin the venue for higher percentages
if the numbers keep going up like integers
and youve done it all yourself then the labels interested
but label or not its the same criteria
the track must be able to cause mass hysteria
I got your CD and I might make time to hear it but
what really matters is the people in your area
period.
  • There is no such thing as bad attention, @Johnny5hater, you're promoting the person you "hate" by caring about it. Quite counterproductive if you ask me.
