I just watched Galiipoli for the 5th time. It never seems to get "old" and is close to perfection. I would even go as far as to agree with Super Hunter "one of the best movies of all time" and most definately "the best war movie of all time". Brillant acting (Gibson, Lee, Hunter) script, cinematography, historical truth, sound-track, and not one second of this movie is boring, The soundtrack is Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre and Adagio in G Minor. Who could have imagined a better choice of music?

I watched this movie for the first time in 1982 or 1983 on HBO--- I was only 13 and the last half hour was horrifying. Growing up on John Wayne movies isn't the same as seeing something like this or Saving Private Ryan. But it had an impact for sure. I went to the library to study about these events. I ended up becoming a history teacher and have been showing parts of Gallipoli for the past 17 years in my history classes for my World War I unit. Thanks--timeless movie.

Sure is. I strongly believe that Mel Gibson made the vast majority of his best movies in Australia. Plus Peter Weir is a superb director.
