eh? where's the evidence that that code was used in the formal global mean temperature record production?
my understanding is that all code written in the last 10 years was lifted from the Unit. Who's to say this isn't just selective release of informal code?

Indeed. It's mostly damage control right now because no one who was already a sceptic will buy the whitewash, and the scandal has given others the courage to speak out. It's a 100% victory regardless of what happens. Infact they might actually do us a favour by keeping Phil Jones in the job now that he has a black cloud hanging over him.
