As I post this the one to two foot thick granite surface of these mountains is being stripped away by the USFS with federal Stimulus and/or Disaster Relief funds on Arizona State Trust land.

Once the stagecoach road connecting Tucson with Florence Arizona in our Territorial days, this scenic road has been traveled for decades by 4x4 enthusiasts, mountain bikers, hikers, horseback riders and a diversity of users who embrace the natural beauty of the Catalina mountains. The value of multi-use land management is best demonstrated thus:
