To remember the First Nations, MEChA along with its supporters held a silent march around campus. The date was Colombus Day, regarded by some as a day which glorifies imperialism and cultural oppression.

Here is what they say from their website: The fundamental principles that led to the founding of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán are found in El Plan de Santa Barbara (EPDSB). The Manifesto of EPDSB sees self-determination for the Chicana and Chicano Chicano and Chicana Movement in El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán (EPEDA). A synopsis of El Plan stipulates: 1) We are Chicanos and Chicanas of Aztlán reclaiming the land of out birth (Chicano and Chicana Nation);

hahahahahahaha "silent" marches....so stupid. Just another way to show how lazy and unexciting they are. Instead of something more productive like a REAL march or a rally, just half it ass like shit and call it a "silent" march.
Seriously, w/ all the black clothes and death idols, i thought it was a Goth/Emo Appreciation Day.

are you kidding me? they would waste their time "marching" against oppression. sounds like an excuse to appear to care, because if any of them did care they would probably organize a rally about something more important like our crippling economy, our bill of rights, or maybe the war. (not the recruiters)

I dont get it. America is the melting pot of the world. every government has itss share of corruption, but you dont see demonstrations against some other country.
As far as Native Americans go, yes its a tragedy thats people died from smallpox cuz thier culture were a lot cleaner than europians, but if there was no colonization, there would be no american; and america gives more aid to other countries than any ive ever heard of.

I guess you see a lotta enrolled mixed bloods here in the States refer to themselves as Anglos. Whoops, no no, a lot of them identify with their tribal group. What little "Indian" blood these Hispanic nosebleeds have is irrelevant. For a long time the majority of these Hispanics wanted little to do with their "Indian" half. Now that there's some political leverage in being Indian all the overnighters come outta the wood work. No dice.

Uh, in case you didn't know, Hispanics are the result of Spaniards and the indigenous people, "Indians" as you can them
word22madre 4 years ago
Hmm, betcha most of these MeCHA folks are Hispanic. Not a single Indian among them.
