The SOG Fusion Fixation Bowie knife achieves quite a lot for its reasonable price and will connect with a lot of knife enthuisasts. SOG has wisely answered the trend of high value, high quality blades with their Chinese-produced "Fusion" line of blades. The Fixation Bowie is a favorite of mine in the series. Measuring out at the same as a KaBar Combat knife (7" blade), the Fixation looks to be a good choice as a deployment, light survival, or all-around outdoor blade. The 8Cr13Mov steel, similar to AUS-8, should hold an edge adequately (like the Spyderco "Byrd" models do), be easy to sharpen, and offer some rust resistance. Other upsides include: a hammer-capable pommel (love those!), nice long handle, excellent jimping on the thumb ramp, good quality Cordura nylon sheath with a sharpener pocket, and excellent fit and finish throughout. All this weighs in at a very packable 12.8 ounces... great job SOG! Downsides might include a delicate tip, less-than-sharp factory edge, and a handle material that is reminiscent of vinyl (but has sharp checkering). Nevertheless, the SOG Fixations $30-ish pricetag makes it a steal and it will attract cash-strapped knife addicts like Rosie ODonnel to free donuts. ////////////////////Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 9 out of 10 (price considered)

this knife just at glance seems ten times better than any knife in its category such as a search and rescue by s and w. obviously more features the only down fall is the sheath....
Everything that nutnfancy says about this blade is true, but I will have to disagree about the grip. The hilt gets right in the way of where I'd like to rest my thumb, so I would like to see a nicer place to keep my thumb, somewhere in between the the handle and the thumb ramp. Also, I can see why the top knives out there give your index some room to choke up past the hilt-- def makes for a more comfortable position option. P.S. Blade for sure needs sharpening out of box.
BROKE! I boght this knife along with a Byrd Cara Cara SS a couple weeks ago to see what I could get for little money. They both seemed very impresive. I love the cara cara!
So I tried out the SOG next to my KaBar to see how they compare. I did a small amount of chopping on a piece of seasoned fir that we burn for heat. They were about the same. I was impressed! Then is swong the SOG a few more times and the blade broke off! Broke at the grip where the hand gaurd is.
I always felt that ka-bars handles were way to thick, so the thinner profile might be comfy. Plus you could always wrap it in 550 if thats what your into...
