The sequence was prearranged, though only the night before. We call it a "freestyle" kata because it's not one of the "set" katas that are taught.

was this done just trading techniques or was it prearranged? freestyle and kata do not exactly go together in theory anyhow.

Thanks! Could definitely had more flow between the techniques in the jo portion at the beginning, but we did throw it together at the last minute.
