Check out a very rare 225 Slant Six powered 1971 Dodge Challenger doing a burnout way back in 1984.

  • For a daily driver, you cant beat the Slant. My dart always suprises the Hondas. They ask where the other half of my engine is

  • I'd totally drive one of these with a stock slant 6. Would make a cool commuter.

  • The "slant six" is just one of the few engines that is close to bullet proof !

To much high rpm driving would not do them no good. But normal driving with an oil change now and then, and they pretty much last forever!

A 1971 Charger caught my attention on ebay a couple of years ago, it had the 225 originally installed!

The car itself was in a very good shape, but who wants / wanted a Charger with a six.......

Would be fun to have one of those, but definately a sheep in wolfs clothing......

  • Yeh how do you make power with these, from factory a 225 is only 140 hp?

  • For those who've gotten decent performance out of their \6s, Did anyone do any modifications to the engine? If so, what kind? I read once that there are quite a few performance enhancers available for this engine; some for not a whole lot of money. Is this true? Did anyone modify their suspension?

  • @grasscat1977 yep all the fine looks with all the fine mpg but realy the challengers a big wide heavy car it realy needs that v8 to git her moving

  • I knew a guy that shoehorned a slant 6 into a 54 Austin Healey. 5 speed tranny with a posi rear. First time out it tore the spokes right out of the hubs.

  • Slant-Sicks power in an E-machine is just wrong but kinda cool at the same time.

  • @KreatorOfDeath1985 You're absolutely right. Rarity is cool too though. It's been a lot of years since I sold the Challenger in this video so I don't remember how many were built with the Slant but it was only a few hundred. It's kind of cool to think of how it would have been if it was restored like the four-door '71 Valiant that became the highest scoring Mopar O.E. car of all time this summer at the Mopar Nationals. Nobody expects a Slant in an E-Body.
