Never played Ys before I downloaded it on the Virtual Console and quite loved this music the first time I heard it. I used to hang around that area just so I could listen to the music.

The very first version of this game was released in Japan in late December of '89, so this just BARELY fits the criteria of being an 80's song, literally by just a few days. You are, however, correct in saying that it is fucking awesome.
