  • A variety of things, mostly Reptomin and Tetra Pond Sticks, but sometimes cut-up pieces of chicken and fish. The also got various pieces of plant material, such as water celery.

  • will they surive

  • That is up to nature. They have a better chance being a year old and a little bigger. They certainly have a better chance than they had when they were dug up by raccoons when they were just eggs.

  • i njust relesed mine today only a year old hope hes safe their a lot of fish ,minnows n crayfish n the pond i put him in

  • I'm sure he will be. They are pretty tough characters and will eat most anything, especially if it moves.

  • No. Snappers get big fast and I think my painted turtles and RES value their heads, feet and tails. I also value my grandkids' toes and fingers (and mine). Besides, the whole idea was to save disturbed eggs to get as many as possible back to the wild. Snappers also spend a lot of time on the bottom -- not really all that interesting. Painteds are forever active.
