this is amazing but true - my uncles in this footage at 3:17 the one with the wavy hair looking up his name is John Oliver McGeough He was a Staff Sergeant - if you google his name his full story on the net - all his wartime history. This is interesting reading and this video was an amazing find. He was a glider pilot.

my father told me that many mistakes were made, but hind sight is 20?20, he knew they were headed for disaster but to serve is to obey the chain of command. The worst he said was trying to get from the boat to the beach, you had no cover, the water fighting to drown you, and the bullits everywhere. the red in the water, and you weren't even sure if it was yours. He was a brave soldier in WW2, 20 yrs old and Korea. It took his mind and left him in physical pain till he died at 62yrs. old.
