@Sylocat I disagree entirely...The movie was a drama/mystery (in that order) with bits of action thrown in. Or at least it is if you compare it to, say, the X-men movie. Or anything with Jason Statham in it.

Movie bob has a youtube channel?! must... subscribe...

moviebob, question:
Of the two, which is better: Watchmen, or the Dark Knight?
-
Ah, "Watchmen", nothing splits people right down the middle like this little film. I just have one piece of advice if you plan on seeing this film and have read the graphic novel. DON'T THINK ABOUT THE BOOK. If the book does not exist in your mind when you see it, this IS a masterpiece. If it does, the movie sucks. The book is still better, but for cramming the book's entire message in a feature-length film, it couldn't have been done better.

Hi Bob, this is Dave. I need you to go ahead and flush the warehouse. If you could do that, it would be great. Thanks...

I wish you would continue to upload your reviews to youtube or something, that piece of shit escapist site doesn't load for half the world (yes, seriously)

I just watched the review, and I am sorry, he is just wrong. The actors are awesome and the visuals are awesome. the music is horrible, and the ending is horrible. Not that he changed it a bit, that is fine by me. Hell, it is a bit better. But he moves on so fast past the moral ambiguity that is retained at the end of the novel. Its like "should he have nuked all those cities?" and instantly its like "...happy love story ending!" ruins the entire theme of the movie!

Any chance of doing a review of the movie explaining the depth and resonance of it? I watched the film and didn't think much. I feel I just didn't get it, or didn't care. Can you change my opinion?
I'm sure others would like to know, or others to use as a reference of why this film is a masterpiece. Thanks.

Chill dude, I'm totally behind Moviebob. My criticism goes towards the usaul "Doesn't live up to the novel"-crybabies
a question to bob:
should i finish the comic and then go see it? or should i go see it right now?

Eh. Movie is a movie, book is a book. But book will be out forever, movie won't. I'd say go see it, but work EXTRA hard to seperate them as two different things in your mind's eye.

I think I can identify the problem with the movie:
The book was a mystery/drama comic with bits of action thrown in. The movie was an action flick with bits of mystery and drama thrown in.
Oh, and am I the only one who thought Jackie Earl Haley's voice was awful in this movie? Rorschach is supposed to talk in a creepy MONOTONE, not do an impression of Christian Bale's overcompensatory Batman voice.
Oh, and by the way... I WANT MY SQUID!

SPOILER
I think one of the little things the film does "better" is to hammer-home the concept that Rorschach is bascially full of shit. He wanders around talking to himself like some bitter, jaded, urban veteran... but when we see him he's a developmentally-arrested little creep BARELY over 30, and all his "code" is just an excuse to work out his mommy issues on the bodies of criminals. Once we finally see him, I think the "manchild doing a Clint impression" voice is wholly appropriate.
