You sir have failed to realize how the government has been run the last 4 years. The first 2 years of his presidency he got what he wanted because he controlled both the house and the senate. Reid and Pelosi gave Obama what he wanted, therefore why compromise. Then he lost the house and still doesn't have the house.

Remember that the president signs the laws into effect. And Obama said he wanted a big deal, then now he wants a small deal. He has a lot more power than you think.

To be fair, the British have survived, but in a less influential way. Same with the Romans, even. They lasted until the 1400s (the Eastern part at least). I figure the United States is going down sooner or later, but it will still be a few more years away. After it falls apart, a bit of it will probably survive, while the rest split off to form independent nations, and North America is divided into much smaller pieces, like Europe.
