my mother's was irish, and her name was Sally, (RIP) , when i asked her what sally in sally gardens meant , she told me that there were a lot of willow trees ,latin name SALLIX, in the gardens, and when the gardeners were asked , they would reply ," ah
thats the lovely sallies " so that's how the gardens got their name
