*cheesy opening*
"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse." - Walt Disney
That's right, my viewers. I make Disney music videos for fun, but I feel that it is important to recognize that I wouldn't be here having fun and galloping around youtube without this one small but very crucial little guy: Mickey Mouse.
This is a tribute to the mouse to whom Walt Disney was referring.
*backstory for why I made this*
I was on a serious Mickey high for some reason when I went to college last fall, so I went on iTunes and bought...more songs than I'd like to admit...simply because Mickey "sang" them (honestly, Mickey doesn't sing; he talks very convincingly in his squeaky voice to the music). When I heard this one, I recognized a lot of the cartoons which were being referenced, and, feeling clever, rushed to youtube to watch the video that someone had inevitably made displaying each reference. So, needless to say, I was shocked when...
NO SUCH VIDEO EXISTED (er...at least none that I could find)! Now, at this point, I was simply resigned and dismayed since this was a dark time in my vidding career—long before I had ever discovered how to rip DVDs or use Windows Movie Maker (I know, crazy). So, weeks ago, after my return home from Walt Disney World in Florida, my love for Mickey Mouse was renewed as was my desire to see a finished video to this silly little ditty. So here it is. Courtesy of my Mickey love.
*notes*
Okay...many of these clips are DVD quality because, trust me, people, I am a sucker for rules and have, prior to this, never downloaded software or movies offline anywhere. I strictly use DVD ripper. HOWEVER, I did not have many of Mickey's cartoons on DVD nor did I know how to find them, so a lot of these clips are straight from youtube. At first, I was nervous and thinking perhaps I should go back and credit everyone from whom I took footage, but then I remembered. This is all Disney's property anyway. So...there you have it. That's just to explain my sometimes-poor quality of clips.
Also note, this is FAR from my best editing job. My timing is horribly off in some spots, and I used uncharacteristically few effects. The effects part was purposeful—I wanted to showcase Mickey's awesomeness strictly through his clips and concentrate on him rather than my editing abilities. The timing issue, however, is a result of importing far more new clips than my WMM could handle, so it crashed all the time while I was making this. My apologies.
Aaaaand, clip usage. Yes. Sometimes the lyrics do not fit exactly what is onscreen. And I'm sorry for that. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Mickey and his cartoons, but I honestly had no idea what some of these lines were referring to (particularly the "captain of the space patrol" one...any help? I'd love to know what it was really referencing). And other times, I could picture that exact moment happening ("kicked by a mule," "wrestled with a rope") but couldn't for the life of me remember in which cartoon that occurred (special shout out to StarWarsNerd456 for helping me a little with Mickey golfing!). And, finally, I have no idea what Goofy is saying in the line right before the "top hat" at the end (although another shout out to Simbaholic for trying to help me out with that). I just put a clip of dancing and hope it works. ;)
If you guys have any corrections for me, feel free to post them in a comment. Can't say I'll be able to fix the problem at this point, but it would still be nice to know. :)
And now, the moment I know you've all been waiting for, the list of cartoons I used in making this video:
A Goofy Movie (yeah, I snuck that one scene in there somewhere)
Brave Little Tailor (my personal second favorite ever)
Canine Caddy
Fantasia
House of Mouse -- Daisy's Debut
Roller Coaster Painters
Mickey and the Beanstalk
Clock Cleaners
Hawaiian Holiday
Mickey's Good Deed (my third or fourth favorite)
The Whalers
Mickey, Donald and Goofy: The Three Musketeers
The Pointer
Mickey in Arabia
Traffic Troubles
Ye Olden Days (in color)
The Band Concert
Alpine Climbers
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (don't say anything. :P It's a part of Mickey, and honestly...I'm 19 years old and admit to watching this occasionally...*dodges darts*)
Plane Crazy
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas
The Prince and the Pauper (which is my favorite, if you couldn't tell)
Thru the Mirror
Mickey's Christmas Carol
Steamboat Willie
All clips (c) Disney and there's a picture of Mickey winning an Oscar that I'm pretty sure belongs to Disney as well.
Song: "A Mouse Like Me" by Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Minnie Mouse (Wayne Allwine, Bill Farmer and Russi Taylor). I cut out the beginning where they talk, though. :)
*longest description ever* Is there no limit on these things?
Could you tell me what Minnie is saying from 0:39 until 0:43? The only part I understand is "band of merry men". I would like to do this song with my kindergarten kids for graduation, and can't find the lyrics online. This is the only major part I don't understand. Could you help me out if you know? Thanks!

@jesuslilprincess121 Aw, sure. :) I am pretty sure she's saying, "wandered in Sherwood forest with your band of merry men." Hope that helps you! Good luck!

@MrsDisneyGal I think I put it at the end of the uber long description, but it's "A Mouse Like Me." I found it on iTunes. :P
