  • Dang I wish I was alive in the 80s.

  • beautiful

  • I saw them perform that year. Stipe was physically gorgeous in the mid-80s, and his voice live was beautiful, too. Some of their lyrics during this period used to make me cry.

  • The Bridge is beyond perfect in its plea.

  • @Stinger4186

Hence, "Murmur" and no lyric sheet

  • true, but I just thought it was kinda funny. After all, I have to admit, when I started listening to REM in the 80s I had every one of their albums on vinyl -> Of course the songs were great but very often i'd be saying to myself, "just WHAT the hell are they saying?" lol. Maybe that's part of their brilliance is to keep u guessing and just what is the underlying obscure meaning of certain song lyrics ..?

REM is one of the best bands ever. Brilliant artistry, creativity & musicianship!

  • Eddie Vedder is a moron

  • Thanks for posting! It's nice to see this again.

  • I actually like these early lyrics better-"He piloted his soul in a plane like that one,Hannah's selling faith on the Go Tell Crusade."

  • "He piloted this song in a plane like that one,she is selling faith on the Go Tell crusade." Amazing lyrics.
