Acela Express 2213 At Hamilton 8/29/10

Acela Express 2213 races through Hamilton with Power Cars 2006 and 2037. As the train passes by, a cloud of red dust emerges from the wooden platforms at the far end of the station, and the train soon applies its emergency brakes, coming to a stop about a half a mile from the station.

Curious about why the Acela stopped, I followed the tracks on the local roads until I saw the set past some abandoned factories. The nose of 2006 had a large blood mark on it, and upon returning to the station, I noticed that many police cars, a couple of fire trucks, and an ambulance had arrived. The police were investigating the tracks, covering up certain areas with white cloths.

Later on, I found out that someonw was indeed struck and killed by the Acela, this being the 5th such incdent since February. This is a painful reminder of just how deadly trains can be. Please take my advice, and always stay off of the tracks. Being hit by a speeding train is certain death, and the only way to prevent this from happening is to keep off of the tracks.

I know these ppl need to stop trying to play chicken with Amtrak, let alone walk on the tracks its not only hard for the victims family but its hard for the engineer too

@amtraksonicfan171 I know. This is the reason I could never become an engineer. Just the fact that I was there when this happened made me feel terrible. I truly hope that I never see this happen again.

@NJTAmtrakGuy Exactly! The worst part is that stuff like this happens so often, and yet ignorant people continue to walk on active tracks and go around railroad gates!

@GenesisSanctuary I know that is very disturbing! It was like a surveillance camera or a cell phone video so the quality is not that good. But you still could see the woman step out there and get hit. These trains do not play around! Thats like how many tons of metal flying down the tracks at 125+ mph.
