High-fructose corn-syrup IS the cause of mass obesity. It takes 5X less Cane sugar to sweeten something than Corn-Syrup, so you are thus consuming more glucose, and that will convert into fat. The reason why it is so cheap is that Corn is one of the largest crops in the US. People open your eyes...

the problem is that food is not all about calories, it has other organic material,

if you eat a pill of calories, it doesn't mitigate your hungry,

when your stomachs full it send a message to your brain making you stop eating.

I am almost 60 years old. Since I was a kid I have seen the size of food portions in restaurants (in the USA) at least "double" in size. I think it started out as a marketing strategy in the restaurant business. One offering more food than the others, then it got to be like an arms race. Everyone kept upping the sizes of the portions to compete or surpass the competition

These people are idiots. The problem is portion sizing, not the actual food. The problem is that most people (not including very active people) need around 2000-2500 calories per day to maintain a healthy weight, but they eat double or even more of that number. Your body has no need for all of that extra energy, so what does it do? It stores it in fat cells. American portions are much bigger than those of other countries, that is the problem. How is this not straightforward?

They didn't say anything about fats being unhealthy. The only thing that was said about fats was from the bogus "smart choice" guy.

They shouldn't blame "the fats". Animal fats are not the problem, the old health advocacy that claimed that they were linked with heart diseases have been shown to been false by meta analysis of the existing research around 2010 if I remember.

Animal fats are basically about as natural a food as you can find.

I feel like this is important to point out because a diet can get very tasteless if you only eat vegetables, carbs and dry meat.
