the only problem with my bronze medalist, special olympics Army, is that whenever i go muzzle to muzzle with another infantry unit, mine ALWAYS surrenders, and so forth would destroy that good defense plan and i would be screwed.

You should find two high points and trap them in a crossfire, from there you can have cavalry around it, i choose cavalry because if you have the cannons battering them with a volley in the beginning, you can get to them quick (not through the woods of course) and finish them. The best defense is offense

Try placing direct-fire batteries in a loose V with your Indirect Batteries behind, essentially go for a cross fire with your Canister so your guns can hold off light cav and skirmishers who can be used to force your arty to retreat/reposition or otherwise cease fire.

i don't want to say this but you are pretty bad player. you are wasting too many soldiers. and you strategy tactics are weak. sorry man i just found 11 mistakes that you made on this battle. i am really sorry.

I find it better to have more cannon and infantry, with light infantry and setting them in a line than a crescest, because in a line, just about the whole ine can fire if an enemy come as a line (as they did), because as a crescent the enemy can concentrate their fire on one side, and pulverize that side as the other side sits quite safely. This would cause you to redeploy into a line, defeating the whole purpose of a crescent. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the crescent formation :).

I just intersperse my cannon with my line of battle, usually a balanced amount between the units, and so i can canister just about the whole enemy line. I also put them slightly forward so when they shoot sideways at a 45 degree angle they dont hit my own men, it's better this way because canister whittles their men down and makes them run very easily.
