So while captured, the Deku's hung Link to a stake and tried to burn him as if he was a witch or something. Odolwa then breaks into the Temple, wreaking havoc. Link nearly burns and gets crushed to death except for the 3 monkeys from before save him. Then Odolwa and Link fight -- which literally consists of Link blocking 1 attack, and then using his spin slash, killing Odolwa.

For a self-proclaimed God; he's kind of weak considering in the story he got killed by a tiny sword in one hit...

And here we see the exploit of all boss recoil times in both Majora's Mask, and Ocarina of Time.

Hitting a boss at the right time (not even completely specific timing) will reset the boss's recoil timer before it even gets away initially.

In the original story, Odolwa is actually a God of Woodfall; the Deku's were planning to sacrifice the monkey; and Link too, for Odolwa, (he tried sneaking into the palace, but got caught trying to rescue some other animal in there as well)
