Well, Mr. Deity if you are worried about someone using your image and claiming you wrote a book I am sure lucy could hook you up with some good attorneys.

@misterdeity Neither are all that horrible when the Bible is read as an allegory, and historical context is considered rather than blindly applying it to varied situations. I wouldn't call it perfect, but read as allegory and metaphor, there is some value in the stories.
Yahweh followers seem to get angrier over suggesting an allegorical reading than they do over an evil reading though.

Maybe God is like a lot of guys out there(myself included) who, after having a kid, mellowed out.I know I'm a lot less prone to getting into a scrap because I don't want to run the risk of getting arrested and leaving my wife to take care of the kids alone.I have a higher sense of responsibility now. Of course, this is all based on the assumption that God exists, which I am getting more skeptical of every day...

He is not "fire and brimstone" in the first half in the way people think of. The idea of the afterlife is barely developed in the OT and the concept of Hell is nowhere to be found.

@tifforo1 I agree. The God of the Hebrew Bible is awful, but the Christian God is so much worse. Great point!
