Screamer is an arcade style racing game for the PC, released in 1995. The game shares some graphical and gameplay style with Namco's popular Ridge Racer (arcade game). The game featured texture mapped polygon-modelled tracks and cars. Software rendering was used in the game, due to the game's release before the wide spread adoption of 3D graphics cards. As a result Screamer was one of the early games to really require a Pentium processor to run at full speed, particularly in SVGA mode.
This is a video showing some fast racing and powerslides in Screamer. Played through DosBox 0.72 D3D Rendering and recorded with FRAPS.

You call this a Screamer?
About the game: too much body roll on the vehicle, jelly suspension?

@BadManiac Actually, there is a CD Audio soundtrack composed by Allister Brimble. Just pop the CD into a CD player and skip to number 2. This also plays during gameplay if it's properly configured to do so.

How do you get the game to work on DosBOX? I tried the dowloaded version of the game, but I couldn't play it because neither "StartH" nor the other can open data.gen.

@BlueDragon992 Yes. Found this game after years being in the attic, put it into my machine (64-bit Win7) and it wouldn't run the game installation, obviously. After a while it picked it up as an audio CD, now its playing all the tracks within the game. Rock on!

Is there CD audio on this game? Because the music playing in your video is different than the music I hear when I play the game in DOSBOX.
BlueDragon992 3 years ago
As far as I know there is no CD Audio. The music playing in the background is the midi soundtrack from the game.
