X-Men: First Class Cast Update

As everybody gears up for the New XMEN prequel, Rumors are swirling that Benjamen Walker may have signed on to play the role of Hank McCoy. To refresh your memory, Hank is the brilliant mutant scientist who ultimately becomes the furry blue superhero Beast! A role that was previously tackled by Kelsey Grammer in "X-Men: The Last Stand!"

Walker is currently staring in the musical and Broadway hopeful, "Bloody Bloody Andrew jackson" in New York, but is best known for his work in "Kinsey" and "Flags of our Fathers."

The X-men cast already includes James McAvoy, who will play Charles Xavier, and possibly Michael Fassbender, who is in negotiations to play the Villainous Magneto. There has also been buzz that Amber Heard may have recently signed on to as "Mystique." Definitely not a bad start to casting!

"X-Men: First Class" will be directed by Matthew Vaughn, of "Kick-Ass" fame, and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011.

If this is a prequal to the other movies, wouldn't Ice Man (AKA Bobby Drake) be too young (as he was one of the new guys in X2) and nobody knew who Angel (AKA Warren thingybob) was in X3 so he can't be in it either... who the hell is left?? Just Cyc, Beast and Jean? I'm confused as to how this will work.

AND in the Wolverine film, xavier meets cyclops for the first time so if he is in it, would have to be Patrick Stewart right? He was the first student too so all starts from there.

Let's just make all the characters young, attractive teenagers. Screw character development or an engaging story; I want to shovel popcorn in my mouth and watch models 'act' on a green screen for 2 hours.

Origins: Wolverine would've been the FIRST film in this series. Wolverine is way older than either Xavier or Magneto, and when we see him (for a few fleeting seconds) in First Class, he's already a full-blown mutant.

Plus, First Class isn't a prequel, but a reboot. Personally, I think it works better this way. If they'd left Emma as a child at the end of Origins, then she would have been included in the original X1, X2, X3 movies somehow, which she's not.

The only Magneto is the one played by Sir Ian McKellen. any other = fake and gay!

@MattCallanan ...the movies have completely changed the order of young mutants to be the first X-Men. The only member known from the comic book storyline is Hank McCoy/Beast otherwise the movies have their own story direction.

Based on the comics the first class is Scott, Jean, Beast, Angel and Ice man - not Wolverine, he came in later. (the 70's I think).

@bevz2nikki - Yes, I know the movies are based on the comics (I've been reading them for 20 years). The changes mid series are bad tho. The Emma Frost thing for a start is stupid if she is an adult. X Men Origins was the 2nd film in this series (Time line wise) and Emma frost was in this as a young girl. The 1st film in this series is First Class (As Xavier is at the end of Origins, walking but old) yet Emma Frost is now in this as an adult with a young Xavier who she didn't know in the future!

@tarjay35 - Had no idea who Darwin or Azazel were so it was pretty coll finding out who they were. The Havoc thing bugs me because in all of the comics and cartoons it is Scotts younger brother and now he is older - nothing that will stop me watching the film, just a bit annoying!

@MattCallanan you do realize that this is based on the comic book n its not made up right? there are soo many characters that cud never fit in an x men movie with that said i think they have many mistakes in this movie...the first 4 movies are ofc adapted from the comics so depending on the script writter n director they went with w/es direction they wanted but they cnt just change shit in the same series (they can in a remanek but this is the same series) they have emma frost as an adult in the
