  • @ASAFYY I agree, because whatever it was they released as Dungeon Siege 3 sure as hell wasn't Dungeon Siege, it just had the name slapped on it.

    Such a shame really.

  • Has this guy ever used a mouse before? +1 for Schaefer's patience

  • hehe my money is on this game. hired a writer? it's ok for me, i have played diablo 2 for many many years and i dont know the story other than -i must kill Diablo :D

  • farcry 3 trailer was my add :D

  • Lan support? A challenger appears blizzard

  • @BrandNewBriefcase I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things play out. Hopefully it doesn't break it and turn it into a "pay to win" game, but only time will tell. One thing is for sure, Blizzard will be supporting it and tweaking balance issues for decades to come. Must give them credit for their support!

My money will be going to Runic Games for catering to my tastes, but at the end of the day they are all just games so let's play what we like, have fun and enjoy!

  • @bludshedx The only real negatives I can see with the auction house are 1.) It kind of takes the piss out of finding awesome loot when anybody can just go and buy it, and 2.) Some balancing issues may arise. However, I don't really think it's anywhere near game breaking, and I think you're drawing a bit of an arbitrary line. It's still a bit too early to judge, especially considering that Blizzard is constantly making changes.

  • @BrandNewBriefcase I guess you just gotta draw the line somewhere for when a game is no longer JUST a game. I may be drawing it a little sooner than most, though I do so with over 20+ years of gaming under my belt. I don't like where things are going with some of today's games and the industry as a whole, though I am pleased to see that Blizzard is yet tomake D3 pay to play. Today's definition of a game is too general. Now excuse me as I go play a game of Russian Roullette.

  • @BrandNewBriefcase To answer your last question yes, I don't think they are worthy of my attention. Once "micro-trancsactions" with "real money" are part of a "game", I don't know about you, but it really makes me question the validity of a software title classing itself as a "game." I admit I'm focusing on the one aspect I dispise the most (the AH), but unfortunately I don't have enough faith in Blizzard to foresee that feature as NEVER getting abused. I hope I'm wrong.

  • @bludshedx Hundreds of thousands of people is a bit more than "a handful," and Blizzard has already made massive changes based on their input. I don't see how you can even argue that they aren't listening to their fans.

And one of the main gripes you have with it is the addition of an auction house where you can buy items with actual currency? Why the hell would that make you no longer consider it a game? Are you saying any game with micro-transactions is unworthy of your attention?

  • @BrandNewBriefcase So you're saying that they listen to the entire community because they listen to the handful of beta testers whom they select and who are people that are most likely going to buy the game regardless of what changes Blizzard make to the final release version?

It's something I no longer care about. My view is that a game is no longer a "game" when you introduce "real" money as an aspect of its purchasing mechanics. For those who buy D3 and enjoy it, congrats.
