  • buddy, you have to help me here please. I have been reading (and only bloody reading) about the sm y2d. That is cuz my local store doesnt plan to stock one. I live in dubai and I will actually have to drop a heavy deposit if the local store would have to order one for me. Steve morse is in my opinion the greatest composer and guitarist. hence i want the y2d. I wanted to know the neck thickness. musicman's site gives the width and radius but not the actuall thickness.cms would help. Thanks a lot.

  • @nigelptl At the 1st fret it's just right about 2cm and at the 12th fret it's a bit over 2cm in thickness. It is a very comfortable profile...definitely not some skinny plank like on Ibanez guitars. I know some people are used to that, but this is a very comfortable neck profile. I would say its like a even C slim profile...similar to that on the Suhr Pro S3 guitar. If you like Steve Morse and his tone, you wont regret this guitar at all! Very versatile and just a joy to play.

  • @Roubster thanks a lot man! I have the HT 20 aswell. I currently have the ibanez xiphos 27 frets. tired of this guitar as its not really all that i wanted. soon i shall get the Y2d. I have played the jp6 by music man, and that was a comfortable neck, the most comfortable i have played so far. I am sure the y2d would be better.

    thanks again!

  • @nigelptl 27 frets eh? I dont even know what to do with 22 hahaha. But yea, regarding the neck profile, the Y2D is quite different from the JP6. The JP6 is flatter and a bit wider. But if you have played a guitar with a C profile, you should be fine. It's just an awesome guitar. Good luck on your hunt.
