Welcome to Druimorrin - see Druimorrin itself with the 3 static holiday caravans we let out between April and October, and our immediate surroundings.

Behind Druimorrin's 5 acres is the Old Urray Burial ground (a fascinating hunting ground for genealogists), we have fields on two sides and the river Orrin close by.

Access is by the A832, at one time the busy main route to the North West Highlands, now a quieter route, but just as good for getting to some of Scotland's most stunning landscapes.

Our nearest village is Marybank, a bit less than 2 miles away and home to our 'local', the Balloan House.

The song is Tàladh Choinnich Oig, a lullaby for young Kenneth or the infant Mackenzie. He was the heir to the Mackenzies of Seaforth, a hugely influential family in this part of the world. Their ancient seat at Brahan is on the hill overlooking Druimorrin and it is said that the final resting place of their family members was at Old Urray. To get there, they had to cross the river with the pall bearers carrying the coffin while fording the river on stilts - or so they say!

This version of the song is sung by Christina Stewart and appears on her "kist o dreams" album of lullabies from Scottish tradition.

Brahan is probably most famous for its association with the Brahan Seer who may have lived a couple of centuries after this song was composed around 1570. He is reputed to have met his end burned in a barrel of tar on Chanory Point near Fortrose after predicting the end of the Seaforth dynasty. This did not prevent his prediction coming true, though!
