While other churches have introduced new protocols to protect children, elders in the Jehovah's Witness community still routinely cover up cases of child abuse.

"They knew he was coming to my house. They knew what he was doing to my child," fumes 'Lyn'. She's furious elders didn't tell her when a member of the community admitted abusing her son. According to a church edict, two or three eyewitnesses must independently verify each alleged incident of abuse. "Nobody would believe me without the two witnesses," states 'Julie'. As a young girl, she was regularly raped by a church elder. While repentant paedophiles are reinstated in the church community, victims who report the abuse are ostracised by the Church. "As far as they are concerned, it was my fault," confides victim James Kerr. "I hate them for that."

They have the two or more viewer (someone who has actually seen the act of molestation) rule. This rule is not ever effective in catching a pedophile. Pedophiles are very secretive and SNEAKY! Young innocent girls df for loving in a comparatively innocent pure way-cannot speak to their family until the org say so. And are damaged massively because of this. It was made clear if they told anyone, they would be disciplined for gossiping.

My friend divorced her husband, but was not allowed to tell anyone why. As a result the congregation turned against her, because the abuser was well liked, and no one had a clue what he had done.

It was so bad, they had to move away. The abuser remained in good standing.

The daughter and mother never got any support because of the gagging rule imposed.

This is all very common among JWs. I know.

As an ex JW, I can vouch for the fact this kind of thing happens. I had a JW friend who was married to a respected elder. When her daughter was 17 she blurted out that her father had been sexually abusing her for years. My friend was shocked and went straight to the elders. Her husband eventually confessed to it. He was not thrown out of the congregation because he was 'repentant'. My friend and her daughter were told they must not discuss what had happened with anyone. To be continued...

For me the worse aspect of this issue among JWs, is the lack of support victims of abuse get.

None of those featured in his video got any support at all. In fact they were made to feel like they were in some way to blame. It's disgusting!

It makes me so angry. Are elders not supposed to be shepherds? They are anything but.
