Hungry - Homeless - American

This is a short film highlighting the forgotten 2 million Americans (and growing)who sleep outside everynight and starving. Makes you wonder when the Hoovervilles are coming back. This is a very important subject we should be solving as a collective politic, but are not.

Recently: The spotlite is on our homeless veterans aka American Heros. (I'm talking to you Bill " I hate America" O' Reilly.)

Although accurate numbers are impossible to come by -- no one keeps national records on homeless veterans -- the VA estimates that nearly 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. And nearly 400,000 experience homelessness over the course of a year. Conservatively, one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country. According to the National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients (U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Urban Institute, 1999), veterans account for 23% of all homeless people in America.

Sad is that the USA cares more about the wealthy in every aspect from small issues to the miltary to its foreign policy. The people of America and the world have becoms slaves of the wealthy for only one crime being born poor. How sad the world spends more on defense than on humanity. Shame on us all for not doing more to help our brothers and sisters.

@BonerPirate There is a deeper more troubling problem there and this is why they cling to addiction, because they lack in love and are in despair. Feed the cause of the addiction which is a big huge gaping vacuum of a hole...these people are aching for someone to really listen reach out and love them and the world is too busy or lazy to care.

"Fighting hunger" is impossible and pointless unless you get to the root of the problem which is finding a way that allows the person your feeding to feed themself. Catch a man a fish he can eat for a day teach a man to fish he can eat for a lifetime.

God, please help the homeless, the poor and those living rough times on the threshold of darkness. Send your servants to feed and to comfort those being without the most neccessary things.

Such bill s - - t Did you see the homeless guys at 0:32, 0:44, 2:33, 2:43 & 2:52 smoking 25c cigarettes? 4 Cigarettes gets u a pound of raw hamburger on sale., or a pound of rice or beans. U can get a loaf of bread for less than 2 cigarettes at the Day Old Baked goods store. Did you notice any skin and bones people in that video? Something for nothing or I will riot. Yeah that;s it. Also i'm confused, I read somewhere where it was somewhere around 80% of homeless are adults which would make it almost impossible for the 9 year old thing to be true unless all children were infants and all homeless adults were 18. In any case, I feel sorry for the homeless who are only that because of situations out of control. I don't feel bad for the drunk asshole guy down the street from me who is drunk all the time and only says "Better than nothin" when you toss him a buck or a sandwich.

Greed isn't the reason their parents aren't working. Last time I checked major corporations aren't exactly thrilled out the recession right now either or lay offs.
