Goddamnit, when are people going to learn it:
MD-80 is a STRECHED devlopment FROM DC-9 (thus -81/2/3 were certified as DC-9-81/2/3) and MD-80 is at 150PAX (in normal class seatin) while a DC-9-50 (largest "official" DC-9 model) has a capacity of 110PAX in normal configuration. Original DC-9 (-10 version) only has 70 seats in normal config...

@JonaLB752fan Because, the lone DC-9, standard version is same as the MD-80. You are talking about the DC-9-8X not the DC-9. The sizes vary, yes such as the MD-83 etc. But the original DC-9 and MD-80 were the same.

No, DC-9-8X is longer (carries 30-75PAX more (dependent on which DC-9X you compare it to))
