Helmets are completely useless in a collision with a car,even at low speed. just ask the manufacturers. They are tested to be effective for a fall to the ground from about a standing position. That would make them great for pedestrians. Unless they were hit by a car at more than 15mph then they'd probably be dead. I'd wear one if I was racing (unlikely), or doing tricks (more unlikely), but they don't do what I want them to - save me from drivers. So No. Also cars pass closer to lid wearers.

When I say I've seen 10 year olds who ride their bikes w/o a helmet is because they really don't enforce it.

You may have been cited for not wearing a helmet. But how many times have you seen a cop drive right pass you like you aren't even there? I bet many of them don't care.

And B.S. there isn't a magical age when kids start getting tickets, I've seen many of all ages get citations, very often, so pull your head out of your ass

It's your moral decision whether to wear one or not. So what there are consequences? Are you still going to wear a helmet? Doubt it.

Something that is worth less that $50 that only sacrifices your hair and some sweaty head makes difference.
