Second Space

Friday 28 Films third movie is set in DanceHouse, Dublin and explores the qualities of dance and movement within open and confined space. Its primary focus is a series of short 'performances' within an elevator, captured when the doors open to a waiting camera. Each dance piece has two consistent elements, a set rhythmic musical score and the performance time determined of the opening and closing of the elevator doors.

What interested us as film makers and dancers, was the visual difference of contrasting dance forms in response to the same musical piece and the unknown aspect for the viewer, of what dancer will emerge on opening of the doors.
