image of my MBP (mid 2007) with display issues, which can be affected by me raising or lowering it. I took this video with my cameraphone (motorola ZN5). Note: the issue has progressed until 3/4 of the screen will immediate fade unless I pinch the screen roughly in the center right. This pressure somehow keeps a connection that causes the display to work perfectly, and so I've been using it to date with a clothespin and toothpick that provide enough pressure while not obscuring much the screen.

  • IMO, there is some cable or connection that will only get more worn unless you take it apart and repair it. You might be able to fix it by only replacing the LCD instead of the entire display.

  • @lakshwadeep i have the same problem (and also the CD issue). where you able to change the cable ? do you have the name of the part ? txs

  • @wikichaves I did not attempt to change the cable, and I think it looks like you must replace at least the LCD panel since the problem connection doesn't appear to be easily accessible even when you take the display back cover off. I suggest checking powerbookmedic(dot)com for detailed videos on replacing the LCD.

  • @lakshwadeep How do you do that?

  • @GreekBalla232

Like I wrote before, I have not done the repair, but you can check the sites of powerbookmedic or ifixit for replacement screens/LCDs. They have detailed videos, also.

  • Macs are built to get destroyed easily so apple can rip you off even more for replacing a part.

  • @staver76 It's short-sighted to not realize all laptops, not just Macs, are more likely than desktops to have problems. I wasn't careful with mine and assumed my backpack's padding was enough protection as I took it daily to school and on buses. I know others who have the same or older models that are going strong. Apart from that and the CD drive, there wasn't any significant problems. This time I got a heavy duty laptop sleeve (Tom Bihn Brain Cell).
