Penn is the kind of atheist I like. One who respects those who aren't.

I personally dislike Rush not because of his (outward) political stance, but because he is a bully spouting a lot of hate. Same with Beck. And Olbermann for that matter.
-
@AlephNeil And Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow are not the scum of the earth? Their all the same thing. Political pundits pushing for an agenda. Left or right they all don't deserve our trust.

Nice job not slamming Limbaugh just because it seems like the thing you're 'supposed' to do. I don't listen to him and am no fan, so I'm not coming from that angle, but it seems to me that most of his most passionate haters are people that have never listened to him and probably couldn't name specific reasons why they hate him other than vague insults like calling him an idiot and making fun of his size. He's a polarizing figure that you love or hate. I'm with you in the middle Penn.

@AlephNeil Beck, at least, was no liar. He was (and is) insane, I'll grant, but he had no motivation to lie in the things he said. And there's nothing wrong with being a propagandist.
It's precisely because he's a "decent guy" he can't see that. Denying others' humanity helps nothing. Calling people the scum of the earth helps nothing. This is the thinking wars are born of.

What is Penn's problem. I always think he comes across as basically a decent guy. Why can't he see that people like Limbaugh and Beck are the scum of the earth - contemptuous propagandists, shameless liars, hateful sociopaths with no compassion or humanity.
WTF Penn?

FUCK YOU PENN!

I've listened to Rush a number of times and I've noticed he often uses this trick where he begins by really flattering the person, be it a caller or whomever, so they are reluctant to want to criticize him or whatever he is saying. I've seen (well, heard) him disarm some callers who disagreed with him not with anything that has to do with the issue but just with flattery.
It is distressing to see the usually astute Penn fall for it.
Here's an idea for a show: Flattery is BullShit!

"a libertarian state. If it exists if it does let me know."
...That would be interesting to see but I don't think it could ever happen. An actual Libertarian is a rare thing. It seems to me that many of the people who call themselves "Libertarian" actually want to ban a lot of stuff. Then there are the big business "Libertarians" who manipulate people by saying it's all about freedom when they really just want to be able to destroy the environment and not pay taxes.

Rush's gift is the ability to say something that is very agreeable and then twist it around. Context, context, context. Penn should invest some time in the broken magic, that is Rush, and revisit his thoughts on the devisive Rush. Rush uses hate rhetoric and then convinces others that he does not.

@pennsays ya its crazy. But i would love to see the condition of a libertarian state. If it exists if it does let me know. I thinkg penn is right about 50% of the time but if libertarian is could solve major problems id be down. Health, economy, Social melding.

It's always surprising to see who Penn defends.
