This is the Intro to the Squaresoft Classic "Xenogears". Although the gameplay was simple and some battles would take too long. Yet this game had some intense views on religion and philosophy. The plot starts off like any RPG, main guy wakes up in village, has memory loss, and goes on a quest after the village is destroyed/lost/endangered, but that's where the generic parts ends. After that cliche start, everything just goes insane in terms of plot and keeps getting crazier. The twists became complicated and hard to understand for casual gamers, but for people who study the material, it really does justice to all the work put into the story line for fans of such topics as religion. If anyone ever comes across one cheap on EBay, you'd be a fool to pass it up. Damn shame Square sold the rights of this to Namco... but maybe it was for the best, considering how bad spin-offs made by square have been in the last 10 years... Dirge of Cerberus is no exception.

  • Anyone know what the title of the song in this video is?

I love the song so much, I always put the disc in just to hear it lol

But yes I agree this game is one of the best of all time, it sends chills down my spine just thinking about some of the philosophy it covers.

  • "Light From the Netherworlds" Is the title of that song. If you look hard enough online (Search engines easily help) you can buy or download the entire Original Sound Track.

  • Square never sold the rights to Namco, Xenosaga was produced independently of Square, which is why Monolith made it very clear that their games were in no way affiliated with Xenogears. Anyway, this is the best game ever made imho, I wish they'd do a remake, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

  • your totaly right, but although ssquare does still own the rights to the original game, they aren't producing more because the guy behind it is now working on Xenosaga from what I hear. SO they aren't touching the series, yeah this is one of the best games I ever played, and it certianly deserves and update. I think a updated port to the PSP should at least be made, I mean they are releasing an update of FFT for the PSP afterall.

  • xenosaga!!!

    i like this game

one of the best RPG of PS1

xenosaga fron PS2 is not too good

    is...good

    a normal game

  • Very nice! I enjoyed watching the video. Keep up the good work.

  • Xenosaga has a relationship with Xenogears. Since Namco and Monolith already produced episode III from a six episode story, Xenosaga is just mainly a prequel. Xenogears is episode V from the six episode story, although it came out first to be produced.

  • well you could see how people could make the mistake kinda

they both have the same creator and share Xeno in the title

plus Xenogears was the 5th part of a six part story the first 4 parts were described in a book that came with a deluxe copy of this game in Japan im pretty sure

  • they don't make games like this anymore unfortunately.
