Yes, it works on Nikasil and the like...for deglazing. The selection of the abrasive is slightly different than in cast iron. You want to use a medium fine grit in aluminum oxide. That allows you to deglaze the liner without cutting into the thin coating.
Of course any plating that is cracking, flaking or chipping needs to be replaced right away and no honing or brushing should be used.
