  • I still love 'Tiny Island' by Leo .... older than time, but i bought it and the album a week after it's release. Hardly anyone mentions it. Must be just me then.

  • not butchering. but leo never "needs" another player. he's like 4 instruments in one. i think he just chooses to play with people to switch it up. just my speculation.

  • Actually, Leo didn't start playing a Taylor until the very late 80's (long after this vid was recorded). And it wasn't until 1990 that he started working with Taylor for creating their Leo Kottke Signature Model. There is a neat story/interview somewhere on the 'net where Leo talks about this.

  • Really? I thought it was weird because he always plays Taylors, but I guess everybody has to try everything to find their guitar.

  • Not really. His "6&12 String Guitar" album classic was all played on a Gibson B-45-12. ;-)

  • Not to mention one of the fastest runners ever. Fascinating talent this Michael Johnson!

  • There's something I thought I'd never see:

    Leo Kottke playing a Gibson!

  • i met michael johnson! one of the nicest funniest guys ive ever met. hung out with him for a while on the weekend. really REALLY nice.

  • Right at the end, just the faintest trace of a smile appears on Leo's face. As if to say "Wow, we made it all the way to the end!". Gotta love it.

  • I'm going to get butchered for saying this, but I reckon Michael Johnson doesn't do the song any favours; as good as he is, Mona Ray only needs one guitar and that is Leo's. It would even sound better if Michael did it on his own, I think. Still a great clip and one of my favvourite songs ever. Just my opinion and all that. Thanks for uploading.
