Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland (acting as Implosion Subcontractor to Testa Corporation of Wakefield, Massachusetts working under Marcor Environmental of Downingtown, Pennsylvania), performs the successful explosives felling of the 324 foot tall, reinforced concrete, Penn Coach Yard Chimney (seated atop a 104 foot tall boiler house structure to be subsequently demolished) at the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 7:47AM on Sunday, November 15, 2009.

  • I expected that thing to go with an implosion, taking the boiler house in the process. Didn't think there was room for it to fall.

  • I was sorry to see the shaft go, they don't make industrial buildings like that anymore and it was a symbol of our school, but boy did you guys do an amazing job!
