LUTZ - Deputies in Hillsborough County are investigating a triple homicide that occurred inside a home in Lutz on Monday, and they describe it as a 'gruesome scene'.

The call from Mobile Villa Drive came in to deputies just after 10:30 a.m. Sheriff David Gee says so far, they can confirm that three people— a mother and her two children—were murdered. Sheriff Gee also said there was "evidence of a lot of violence" inside the home.

Deputies found an adult male hiding in the bedroom when they went inside, and he was handcuffed and taken to University Community Hospital, where he is being interviewed by deputies. They're not saying whether he is being interviewed as a potential victim, or a potential suspect.

Investigators also say a dog was killed inside the home.

There's no word yet on the identities of the victims. Sheriff Gee estimated that the children were about 2 and 7 years of age, but he couldn't confirm that for sure.

According to neighbors, the victims were 26-year-old Lisa Freiberg, her son Zachary and her daughter Savannah.
