To be honest, I like terraria and Minecraft equally, yet differently. I like terraria more in terms of content and everything, but after I hit endgame and ran out of creative stuff to do, I went back to minecraft to mess around with redstone again (I'm now lapsing back into noteblock songs :D)

Maybe your right, and Terraria is a rip-off from minecraft, but think:

Terraria started with potions mobs and entchanting in the genre of Minecraft.

Now look at 1.1.0:Potions,a final boss, entchanting.

SO You CAN say that MINECRAFT IS A SORTA RIP-OFF FROM TERRARIA

Minecraft and Terraria are 2 games of the same genre. A genre that just so happened to have been created by Minecraft single-handedly. That doesn't mean one is a rip-off of the other. You wouldn't call Battlefield 3 a rip-off of Call of Duty now would you?

Terraria has a huge selection of mobs, weapons, items, furniture, ores, armor, accessories, and bosses, not to mention that it is much cheaper. Minecraft is in 3D, has a great community, and plenty of mods. They are equivalent in quality.
