  • you should shoot a short documentary about breakfast when you hit 100.

you know, i'm not really sure. i guess because with music, you're often engaged more emotionally than you are with literature or paintings. at least that's the way it seems to me.

  • I LOVE the 100 sub idea. I think I might do that.

  • it consoles me

  • why music, wow well because my family listen to all type of music to pop to rap or even rock and i started like music at a young age i was into nwa, slayer, tupac, and iron maiden but as i purgress in my years i found new music i like and over all if i didn't have music i wouldn't be here at all

  • I'm coming from a different perspective, I'm actually the books kind of guy, but I will say this: Have you ever noticed that reading the novel Dune is actually BETTER if you put the Toto and Brian Eno soundtrack to the movie on the stereo while you turn the pages? Or how Conan is best read with the Conan epic score in the background? I've never been a competent musician and for many years shunned music because I felt incompetent in it, but eventually I embraced the emotive potential of it.

  • Why music? Honestly? As a musician, I have found the world is a dipressing and is only uplifting when you do something relevant in responce to it.

Also, there are so manny things that are too outragous that you can't say in conversations but you can say it in a song...

  • Why music? Honestly? As a musician, I have found the world is a mess and is only interesting when you do something relevant in responce to it.

  • I guess I choose music because it allows me escape reality.

  • [adding to my previous comment] Music is so special, that unlike books or paintings, you can even go to sleep while listening to music. Not to mention it can be listened to while having sex, and it makes it more exciting. You would't read books at that situation. Of course a car can come in handy in this situation too, though. But it's not as handy as music. Music is universal. It is a gift we should definitely cherish. It's the greatest gift we have.

  • For playing it, its always been a way to sort of write down my deeper feelings that can't be described through words.

I tend to think that our brains are more keen to music because it is usually way more powerful than any other art medium. Music can take 5 mintues to really get a point across to you. Books are also inspiring, but just not the same ease as just mindlessly induldging in listening to music. Plus you can listen to music while you fall asleep as opposed to reading ;D

  • Music has been somthing that allows you to transport your mind elsewhere.

For me, music can be a lot of things. When you hear somthing that states a political statement or somthing you believe as well, it can be a really powerful song to you and inspire you.

Music is also somthing that helps me to remeber the past. You told me once that a lot of things i listen to a quite nostalgic for me.

Music can set a mood or atomsphere. I like to sit and listen to No Quarter with all the lights off
