www.ProGuitarShop.com-The Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter Tremolo pedal is an all analog, dual mode tremolo pedal. The SFX-07 Rate mode allows a steady speed from 1 to 20 cycles per second to be manually adjusted by the rate knob. In Ratio mode, the tap switch sets the rate of the tremolo and also gives you the option of setting a tap-to-note ratio: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, or 4:1. With this function the Shape Shifter Tremolo lets you decide on 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes, triplets, or 1/16 notes. Another distinctive feature of the Shape Shifter Tap Tremolo is the Shape control. Normally a tremolo has an even relationship between the time that the volume increases and decreases. With the Shape knob at 12 o'clock, this characteristic is maintained, however when you move it left or right, the relationship changes. The SFX-07 will deliver a short volume increase followed by a longer volume decrease or vice-versa which will add a very different feel to the overall effect.

The Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter is a very natural sounding Tremolo. The all analog signal path keeps your tone pristine and gets a very vintage vibe from the Shape Shifter. With the Wave control, the SFX-07 can deliver smooth creamy tremolo or choppy square wave style chop. When a short volume increase is coupled with a long volume decrease via the Shape control, the tone gets very percussive and piano-like. We found the Tap control extremely useful in a live situation where the drummer is your metronome and quick changes are a must. The Seymour Duncand SFX-07 Shape Shifter Tremolo is the most versatile tremolo pedal we've seen and it also delivers the vintage '50's style tone that most tremolo fans will adore.

  • Is anyone else confused by the ratio locations? It seems that when the demonstrator wants a 1:1 ratio, he points the dial all the way left; when he wants a 4:1, he goes all the way right; but when he wants 2:1 or 3:1 he points the dial to the numbers themselves, which is not where the knob is when it's all the way left or right.

Is it always going to be 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1, so long as it's within those 4 zones, without gradation within the zones?

  • You just have to keep the knob within the boundary for that ratio. It's a dual function knob so that's why it's not crucial to be exact.

  • How does this pedal work with effects before it in the chain? Specifically Fuzz, OD, and other high gain effects. Will it effect the LFO? Or can the Trem still be super choppy regardless of what's before it? (Like a good vox amp trem or something)

  • @joachimekstrom I use tremolo in blues in southern / swamp rock. It's a great effect to use with long, upstroke chords or arpeggiated chords.

  • the complaint i hear about this pedal is that it has to be engaged to set the tap tempo... which is a bad idea. It can be modded easily... and I don't know they wouldn't make that mod standard. That and an internal volume trim would be golden.

  • This is the same type of effect used on the intro of Green Day Blvd. of Broken Dreams, most specifically, the settings you see at the end of this video where it sounds really choppy.

  • Exactly WHEN should i need this effect pedal lol? ;p i dont know if i like it...

  • @androidophanium yes. its a simple lfo

  • would it be wrong of me to call this a fancy

    LFO?

  • Can you make this pedal as choppy and poppy as a Vox repeater/Earthquaker Hummingbird?

  • @thricex05 Sorry, what do you mean by tap polarity?

  • Is the wave form knob continuous? Or does it just select 3 settings?
