The bill referenced at the end of this video passed the District of Columbia City Council on April 1, 2008. It increases the penalties for assault on bus operators and station managers by 50%. It also requires notices be posted of the increased penalties on buses and in Metrorail stations.
The Maryland House Judiciary Committee defeated similar legsilation & another attempt to enact a similar law in MD will occur next year.
