you have to watch out doing static stretches like this before heavy lifts as inevitably it can make you joints weaker if you over do it. Dynamic stretches are the way to go before heavy lifts, just to get the blood flowing to the right muscle groups.

@norwegianstud only stretch to what is comfortable, dont put yourself in pain. but im sure the more flexible the better the blood circulation is

Thanks for that. I had been doing the shoulder and arm stretches but the other day I tried some new lifts and my pecs are really sore today. In future I'll do these chest stretches after my workout.

best adivice ive had in ages. my left arm is relaxed now..im just wondering, is it possible to overstretch and lose the blood sirculation?
