i was melting plastic but freaked out because of fumes and environnement...this 14 hours of electricity sounds bad !!! ;( i will not work with glass i am now sure ! but good luck ! ;)

Very little. The temp ramps up and down slowly and the high temp is held for a very short time. Kilns are very energy efficient. And, they heat the house on cold winter nights!
